Terms of Service
The rules for using Relay, in plain language.

1. The service
Relay provides an API and dashboard for sending transactional email — messages triggered by a user's action in your product, such as receipts, password resets, and notifications. By creating an account or using the API, you agree to these terms.
2. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and API keys. Keep your keys secret; rotate them immediately if you suspect exposure. You must provide accurate account information and be authorized to send from every domain you verify.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use Relay to send:
- Unsolicited bulk email (spam) or purchased-list mail
- Phishing, malware, or otherwise deceptive content
- Mail that violates applicable law, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CASL
Relay enforces per-tenant sending quotas, rate limits, and an automatic pause when bounce or complaint rates exceed safe thresholds. We may suspend or terminate accounts that put shared sending infrastructure or other customers' deliverability at risk.
4. Billing
Paid plans bill monthly by plan tier plus metered overage per 1,000 emails, as listed on the pricing page. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time; downgrades are prorated. The free tier is subject to its stated monthly and daily limits.
5. Your content
You retain all rights to the content of your messages and templates. You grant Relay only the limited rights needed to accept, process, and deliver your mail. We process message content transiently for delivery and do not use it for any other purpose.
6. Service availability
We aim for high availability but the service is provided "as is" without warranty. Email delivery ultimately depends on receiving mail servers we do not control. Plans with an SLA are governed by the SLA terms in your order.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Relay's aggregate liability arising out of the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. You may close your account at any time. On termination we delete your account data as described in the Privacy Policy.
